Like a foreman on a construction site, they build out roads, workers living quarters (man-camp), oversee excavation machinery assembly and drilling of the well site itself especially in remote locations. They are also, part Fixer, Problem Solver and Facilitator as well.. Landman is another hit in a long line of them for Taylor Sheridan.
Billy Bob Thornton was born to play this role, he is absolutely terrific here
This has everything you want in a good series, it has plenty of drama, action, twists, even a little comedy, etc. It’s obviously beautifully written because everything Sheridan does is but it also has an amazing cast. It stars the incredible Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, among others.
Same goes for Hamm
I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t get nominated for an Emmy for his performance here. Besides being beautifully written and acted, it’s also beautifully shot too. Sheridan has so many great shows to his name and Landman is among the best of them.
This looks like it’s going to have a long run and I’m here for it

Featured on WatchMojo: 10 Best Summer TV Shows That Are Off Your Radar (2018) (Review of only the first two seasons) I came to this show not expecting to like it, but the storyline, acting and cinematography are excellent. Basically, it’s mob wars in Montana with periodic giant doses of testosterone (cowboys with guns on horses while fishing)!
Costner is a masterful actor in the role of the Duttons
The show is at its best when it shows the moves on the chess board that the Duttons and their enemies make. The show gets stuck at the beginning of the second season, but starts to roll again in the middle.
Thomas Rainwater is also great
Kelsey Esbill is the weakest link in the role of Monica and plays poorly, the storyline ends awkwardly and the acting just doesn’t hit the mark. I think that Cole Hauser in the role of Rip is probably the strongest actor (without Costner himself), and I was looking forward to all the scenes in which Rip was in.
The storyline is humming and the scenery is beautiful
Just as Cormac McCarthy’s All the Pretty Horses was a bit more raw and brutal than the title suggests, this show hits in the same vein. I strongly recommend it and I regret that I didn’t wait so long to watch it.
